Responsibility, Endurance and Resilience
September 30, 2026 - October 4, 2026 | Hamburg Convention Center, Hamburg, Germany
Organized by European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS)
Annual neurosurgery congress of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, organised at continental level for neurosurgeons.
The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) describes itself as an independent association both of European neurosurgical societies and of individual neurosurgeons from Europe and all over the world, with the stated aim of enabling its members to enhance the care they deliver by facilitating the exchange of scientific information at the highest level. Its annual congress is the point in the calendar where those national societies meet as one, and it moves to a different European host city each year. For the Hamburg edition the motto is Responsibility, Endurance and Resilience, and the association reports that more than 2,000 neurosurgeons from Europe and worldwide attend annually.
Hamburg hosts the meeting at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), a city-centre venue with around 36,000 square metres of available space and capacity for up to 12,000 visitors at a time. The Dammtor mainline and commuter train station sits directly on its doorstep, with the Stephansplatz and Gaensemarkt underground stops close by. For delegates planning a neurosurgery congress trip to Germany, that location keeps the scientific halls, the technical exhibition and the main hotel districts within walking distance of each other.
The scientific content is organised around eighteen main topics that map onto how European neurosurgical practice is subspecialised: vascular and spinal neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, skull base, trauma and critical care, paediatrics, radiosurgery, functional neurosurgery, cerebrospinal fluid disorders and hydrocephalus, peripheral nerve surgery, and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. Cross-cutting strands on global neurosurgery, geriatric neurosurgery, research, history, ethics and education, diversity and emerging technologies round out the programme, and a young neurosurgeons track serves residents early in training.
Registration is tiered by EANS membership and by career stage, with separate rates for doctors in training, undergraduate students, nurses and related professionals, and delegates from low- and middle-income countries. The early bird window closed on 15 June 2026 and standard rates run until 23 August 2026, after which a late tier applies. Participants can claim CME credits upon participation, which makes the congress a practical way for European neurosurgeons to combine subspecialty updates with their continuing medical education requirements.
